Today we're diving into the marketing wisdom that can be gleaned from none other than the queen of the nowspace, Taylor Swift. Part of Taylor’s magic is that is has something for everyone (more or less), and that includes the marketing team.

You’re probably thinking: "Are we going to dissect 'Love Story' line by line….again?" Not quite, but we are going to reimagine some of the magic behind Taylor’s tunes and apply it to marketing strategy. Get ready for a blog so punchy, even Taylor might want to write a song about it.

1. Relatability

Taylor Swift tells personal, emotional narratives through her music. We all know the power of storytelling in marketing. But what takes Taylor’s music to the next level is that the listener can see her/himself in the story. Whether it’s a breakup or going to a party, being embraced or cast out, it’s easy to relate to how she feels and the experience she’s describing. Giving your audience a way to see themselves using your product or service and the impact it will have on their lives will make it more “real” and support conversion.

2. Gratitude

You can’t have a performance without the performer. But you can’t have a performance without the audience either. In fact, if the audience doesn’t buy tickets, merch or albums, the performer won’t go anywhere. Taylor Swift continually expresses her gratitude for her fans and acknowledges their role in her success. Swift's fan base, which only gets larger and more loyal, demonstrates the impact of making her fans feel seen and appreciated. Do the same in your marketing. Make your audience the hero of your brand’s story - because they are.

3. Evolution

Swift’s transition from country to pop showcases the power of staying dynamic and relevant. Similarly, marketers can continuously reassess and evolve their brand strategies to keep them current. Don't shy away from reinvention when necessary. Swift's ability to redefine her brand while staying true to her core identity serves as a reminder to marketers to stay ahead of the curve and embrace change for sustained success.

Incorporating these lessons from Taylor Swift's approach will contribute to creating an enduring strategy that keeps your brand playing like a player.
